10 Days Training of Practicing Farmers in Organic Farming

 
Implementing Agency : National/Regional Centre for Organic and Natural Farming (N/RCONF) in association with KVKs/SAUs/CAUs/organizations involved in education /extension /Research and Development (State Agricultural/Central Agricultural Universities, NGOs / Service Provider / Regional Council etc. recognised by NCONF& State Government.
Objectives : As per the mandate of N/RCONFs on promotion of Organic Farming, this new program is proposed, with the objective to promote Organic farming by training of identified progressive Farmers or LRPs of LGs under PKVY/BPKP/MOVCDNER FPO leaders practicing Organic Farming in their fields. These farmers will further work as Master Trainers in their respective regions.
 These identified Progressive Farmers will be trained for 10 days in Model Organic farm and practically exchange the various techniques which they are practicing. Further they will exchange practical knowledge amongst themselves. The various practices adopted by them will be documented and further subjected for scientific validation in the Identified Centers of Excellence in Organic farming.
Further these trained progressive farmers will also train the other farmers of their Region and form mega clusters or FPOs, this will create a pool of practicing experts in field of Organic farming at National level. The long term objectives of this program include: -
 
  • i. To create trainers among LRPs of LGs taking up organic agriculture and form mega clusters /FPOs which shall act as extension agencies at Village/Block/District level for crop nutrient and soil health management, and plant protection through formulation of on farm inputs as soil health promoters along with botanical extracts
  • ii. To nurture and develop farmer leaders at Village/Block/District level on organic farm management practices with special focus on formation and upgradation of LGs and FPOs with broad aim to improve certification and marketing
Programme Duration : 10 days practical training cum workshop of Progressive farmers & trainers.
No. of Participants :  30 Nos. of participants in each course.
Eligibility for participation : The course will be open for progressive farmers having (2-3 years’ experience in the field of organic farming) and LRPs of PKVY /BPKP who are experienced and practicing Organic farming and having practical experience in the field.
Age : There is no age bar
Eligibility Documents to be produced at the time of registration: :
  • 2 passport Size Photograph
  • Self-Attested copy of Identity proof (Voter ID/Driving license/PAN card/Aadhar card
  • Self-Attested copy of 12th pass certificate
  • Self-Attested copy of eligible document & marks sheet
  • Self-attested copy of Caste certificate in case of reserved categories (OBC/SC/ST candidates)
  • Course content : The program will consist of theory lecture, practical and demonstrations / field/Model Farm visits.
     
    • • Introduction with need, Concept/ Philosophies, Principles and component of organic farming
    • • Soil health build up is the prime need in organic farm management
    • • Organic farming as an integrated approach
    • • Conversion to organic with national standards
    • • Crop Management, Nutrient and water Management and Pest Management and inter- cropping system based farm planning
    • • In-situ composting, mulching and recycling of organic matter in organic Agriculture
    • • On-farm input generation and resource management
    • • Traditional organic/ Natural input preparation and use of Biofertilizer, biopesticides, plant health promoters like Panchgavya, Beejamrut, Jeevamrut and Ghanjeevaamrit etc.
    • • Manure preparation and introduction to compost, composting and its value addition, technical know-how on quality control of organic fertilizers and biofertilizers as per Fertilizer Control Order (FCO)
    • • Introduction to various agriculturally useful Biofertilizer and Biocontrol agents including Integrated Pest Management
    • • Economics of organic farming
    • • System of organic certification and inspection including PGS-India / 3rd party certification and JaivikKheti portal operationalization.
    • • Processing and marketing by Branding of rural products, FSSAI, marketing and packaging of organic produce
    • • Current Government schemes related to organic farming.
